Momma said wonk you out

OFF-TOPIC BLOGGING.

Did you know Gil Scott Heron is working on a new album? And, even cooler, a book called The Last Holiday, about Stevie Wonder's long crusade to make Martin Luther King Jr. Day a national day of commemoration? Heron's like the Leonardo Da Vinci of our generation. Only funkier.

Gil! Scott! Heron!

Dude,

We almost lost detroit

Now, I love me some Gil Scott. The good Gil.

But as with Dan Treacy (they could have been, really) and so many others, you can't really mention him without mentioning the drug use. Da Vinci, if instead of learning three other trades he'd smoked a bunch of crack.

I'm not saying he's wrong to have done it, but you gotta mention it.

Ezra, great as Gil Scott Heron is, I'm not sure I'd use "of our generation" here. Dude's almost 60.

I'm not sure who'd I throw out there from this generation, but I don't think Gil Scott Heron qualifies.

Oh, man. S Brennan beat me to it. He's just so much funkier than Da Vinci it is insane.

'Whitey on the Moon' reminded me of this: http://tinyurl.com/22wrdh , which is worth a read if not nearly as funky.

Well, the first thing I have to say is:

Mandate, my ass.

What Mac said. Unless you're a whole lot older than your picture looks, Ez.
