Hey Folks,
Please go Digg the Union article Ezra posted. Then share it. I have a very good understanding now of how important the EFCA is.

I'm so glad AB trashed Batali's Spain show. No Reservations worked hard for that aesthetic, as effortless as it seems, and Batali's attempt to recreate it is like ... well, like looking at a rabid golden retriever.

AFL-CIO had a float in the Inaugural Parade. I feel like they should have had a sign that said, You Owe Us.

Thanks so much for the union article, great link!

Yes, the Spain show was just misconceived and badly done, in spite of the obvious budget (and wodge of cash thrown at it by the Spanish tourist board) and the sooner Batali and Bourdain do something with the No Reservations production team, the better.

Re: "Lefty Press in the Age of Obama":

The difference between left and right movement media and their relationship with a president is that the left has a kind of built-in anti-systemic critique of Washington liberalism, whereas the editors of NR largely share the social vision of Republican leaders. I can pretty much guarantee that Ezra Klein will never become a hack apologist for Obama because Klein's politics, whether he knows it or not, are more venturesomely social democratic that Obama's liberalism.

Bush, K-Lo, Kristol & co. are truly kindred spirits in their values, their general agenda and their sad, patholigical moronism.

mr. bourdain (because AB could stand for alton brown, too!) said similarly negative things about emeril, once upon a time. he's since mellowed. i expect the same thing to happen with his beef with alice waters.
