FUNDRAISING!
I knew Obama was vastly outraising Hillary Clinton, but in March, he took in $40 million to her $20 million. That's huge. Obama, it turns out, has raised more than $130 million in the first three months of 2008. At this rate, can't he just pay McCain and Clinton to drop out?
More impressive. Obama's fundraising doesn't require Obama to do very much fundraising. Since January 1st, Clinton has attended more than a dozen fundraisers, while Bill Clinton has headlined more than 40. Obama and his wife have attended fewer than 10 over the period. That means he doesn't have to waste hours shaking hands with rich people or flying back-and-forth from California. That means he can spend all that time campaigning. It's a real advantage.

Too bad he has to waste a lot of that money fending off Clinton's futile campaign for the next 3 months.

Sounds like that community organizing experience didn't matter. I wonder what nonsense Mark Penn will dream up next.

except that for every appearance Obama does, Bill Clinton does about six and Hillary Clinton does one and a half. Have you seen Bill's schedule lately? He stops in every town with a newspaper circulation over 25,000.
Now, between South Carolina and Wisconsin, this was not the case; Obama actually did more events than Clinton. But at the moment they're just getting outworked.

(yawn)
and yet representative of the pattern of voter suppression by the Obama campaign

You may be for sale.
The Democratic blogosphere may be for sale.
But universal healthcare, Social Security, and the Democratic agenda are worth fighting for against the "professional Democrat" careerist sellouts.
Clinton has gotten more Democratic votes so far than Obama. That might not matter to Ezra. He may be willing to sell his allegiance to the highest bidder. But siding with money against the Democratic electorate is fucked up, and should be noted.

The mid-February decision of Team Obama that they had "The Math" is a sign of just how fucked up their political weltanschaung really is.
If they can't figure out that losing the final three months of the campaign would result in losing the nomination, they richly deserve what's coming their way.

And with all that money and all that extra time, he couldn't convince anyone else in his party to vote for him. It hasn't bought him more than one primary that wasn't frontloaded with liberals or blacks.

Wow caucuses are so toxic to the anti-Obama crowd that they aren't even mentioned anymore. Because it's true that North Dakota, Idaho, and Nebraska are just stuffed with liberals and blacks.

we're just not hearing about all of Obama's fundraisers--this never got into the regular news at all, and the press was banned-- http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid53048.asp
(during his "regular guy" tour of PA, too)

Despite being wrong about everything so far this primary season, it's nice to see Petey hasn't lost any of his belief that he knows what he's talking about. I wonder if he still thinks Obama is really running for vice president?

nahh. Petey's got the right read on Obama supporters.

Not all of them. I agree Clinton has a better domestic policy agenda, not by leaps and bounds, but better. I support Obama because he opposed the war, while Clinton actively promoted it. If we want to prevent future aggressive wars, antiwar voters have to reward politicians who opposed invasions, and punish politicians who supported them. Otherwise, why would any politician ever oppose a war again? Clinton believed invading Iraq was wise politically. I can't support that.

You would think with all that money and all that "oh, he is so for sure the winner" whining from the Obama people he would have been the clear winner by now, but alas, his lead is softening, and he just can not do it. Are you willing to risk the General Election? I am not.

Stellaa, go look at the poll that NY Times article quoted, in all indicators Obama is stronger than Clinton. 62% like him compared to 58% for Clinton, and he matches up better against McCain, and more Democrats expect him to win. So what is your point?

"can't he just pay McCain and Clinton to drop out"
Well that's what will happen eventually and specially with his flip/flopping on public funding.
It's sad day for Democracy...
Clinton and Obama together have raised $70 million just in one month alon.
So who is in recession?
I thought people dont have money to pay for gas and food...who are these people contributing to these campaign if economy is so bad?

The former, yes. Who do you suppose votes in caucuses?
Posted by: Cal | April 5, 2008 11:54 PM
Wow, starting to think people harping on your obvious tongue in cheek reference to paying them off must be Republican plants, their lack of a humor bone fits the Republican definition to a tee.
