The "one blogger" in this New Yorker story is Ann Friedman, the brilliant deputy editor of The American Prospect and a writer at Feministing. The New Yorker should learn how to credit the writers they quote.

Uh, yeah. To say nothing of the semi-intellectually dishonest suppression of the fact the dissention from Morgan was coming not from any old "young woman" but from an explicitly feminist author.
Agreed. I was recently quoted and paraphrased in the Washington Post for my coverage of the kerfuffle over Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz's (D-Fla.) refusal to campaign against her GOP friends.
For my part, I don't have to be named, but yeah, I see what you mean about it being a pattern. I think it's because we're not "traditional media" nor are we "traditional media sources." I guess I just don't eat enough cocktail weenies.
Maybe if they quote bloggers - people would go to the blogs and not bother to read Trad. Media sites. Also possibly they didn't tell their editors that they were "borrowing" information.

It's because the TradMed hates DFH's. The good thing is that we'll be the TradMed's downfall.

And Apophis will be the DFH's downfall, along with everything else. Ooops.

Trust me -- they don't need you to be their downfall. They're doing it just fine on their own.

Mainstream Media note-to-self:
Rome isn't burning fast enough. Buy gasoline. And fiddles. Gotta have more fiddles.

For you TradMed folk reading this:
Not only do good bloggers cite the original source, they also cite ("hat-tip") anyone who may have directed them to this source.
Instead, Serious Journalists lift material without crediting the source and rewrite it in their own words to pass it off as their own reporting.
