INTRODUCING YOUR UNITED STATES BUDGET CONFEREES!

By now, you've all heard of conference committee: that magical land were a couple powerbrokers from the House and a couple poobahs from the Senate meet to decide what the final budget will look like. Yesterday, the representatives from both chambers were named. They are:

Senate: Kent Conrad, Judd Gregg, and Patty Murray.

House: John Spratt, Allen Boyd, Paul Ryan, Rosa DeLauro, and Jeb Hensarling.

In both cases, you have the chairman and ranking member of the relevant budget committee. That means Conrad and Gregg in the Senate and Spratt and Ryan in the House. The others are appointed to the process.

How did Allen Boyd's Social-Security-privatizing ass get on there? They should set up a committee on breakfast cereals made out of Uranium for him to chair, and tell him that he's not allowed to be on anything else.

Okay, well, looks like the previous post has my answer! If that's the price of Type 2 reconciliation, cool.

Found it!

Where's Conrad and Boyd?

What part of 'keep your f'ing hands off social security' don't you understand?

I don't know how Pelosi allowed a majority of anti-Soc. Sec. folks on this conf. comm., but they are playing with fire on any reduction in coverage or benefits in social security. Can they raise the income limits on contributions? Yes. Can they balance the budget on the backs of recipients - now or future? Fuck NO.

I really believe that these social networks will have a huge impact on what we can accomplish as groups, it'll help us be very organized and communicate.
