POWER POLITICS.
To be honest, I'm rather surprised that we're not hearing more stories of superdelegates having their arms twisted or being bribed. Still, it's worth noting that Haim Saban, the founder of Brookings' Saban Center for the Invasion of Middle Eastern Nations, tried to bring the financial hammer down on the Young Democrats of America. They stood tall behind the pro-Obama consensus of their membership, but as Sam Stein and Nico Pitney report, they were scared shitless. Way to cultivate the youth, guys!

"The Saban Center for the Invasion of Middle Eastern Nations?"
Zowsa! Not planning on doing a book tour stop at the Center, never ever ever, are we?

How did Saban think his move would go over with, say, black Democrats?
I'm really believing at this point that a lot of the Clinton people just don't care any more-- they're willing to burn down the barn to keep the light burning.

May this be the first step towards breaking the Likudnik stranglehold on America's Middle East policy.

Maybe I'm naive, but shouldn't this be much bigger news? I'm not going to go the paranoid route and say Hillary was behind this, which does unfortunately seem to be the trend these days (or maybe I should just stop reading Andrew Sullivan). But isn't this a huge problem, someone offering a million dollars in exchange for votes?
I do like his totally inauspicious name for his think-tank, though. If only the Bush neocons had been part of a group called "Concerned plutocrats for lying and blowing shit up," we might have avoided this whole Iraq imbroglio. Or at least applauded their honesty.

Bribing superdelegates to vote for his candidate...I'm sure the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the other virtuous stars of Saban's kid shows are heartbroken about their master's behavior. For shame, Haim!

Uh...I'm a big Obama guy myself, but you're taking the HuffPo at their word why exactly? It's a totally unsourced item, isn't it? Let's all be a little bit less credulous, please.

Corrupt influence-peddlers like Saban are part of Israel's problem, and do little to benefit anyone but the more foolhardy hawks. If you want Saban's previous form, remember when the rich Clinton donors tried to pressure the Democrats? Three guesses who was the shrillest and dumbest of them all....

Maybe I'm naive, but isn't Saban supposed to be more intelligent than this? I mean, those YDA folks obviously are a very talkative bunch. And if their members really overwhelmingly support Obama (has there been a poll or something?), it doesn't look like a good idea to bribe their superdelegates. Too obvious.
Btw, can't Aravosis and those HuffPo "reporters" get their damn facts straight? Are there three or four YDA SDs? Did all but Hardt endorse Obama, or is there a Clinton supporter, too? And isn't there at least one source willing to go on the record, preferrably the one who allegedly talked with Saban? I guess there are good reasons why the notoriously scandal hungry media doesn't jump on this story.

Ezra, one more point: You wrote Saban "tried to bring the financial hammer down" on the YDA. Well firstly, Saban denies the whole story of the anonymous sources, so it would be a good idea to use "allegedly" in that sentence. And secondly, IF the story is true, he tried to bribe them, not threatened them to withhold support, as the hammer phrase implies. Even the Huffpo report says clearly that Saban didn't ever directly support YDA.

Saban has been a Hillary man for a long time, but he plays both sides of the political spectrum well. I find it very interesting or telling that he owns Univision, the Spanish language network. I wonder the extent that his pro-Israeli ideas are sorted out for Spanish language viewers.

I'm at the point of, "Well if this is true, why does it surprise anyone". We have seen the Clinton campaign and her supporters use the race card, the gender/victim card. The "He has'nt been vetted (Whatever "Vetted" means. And she hasn't either.)card. The "He's a cocaine user"card. And the "He's inexperienced" card. Even though "He" has more experience as an elected official than her.So why would anyone be surprised that she would direct a supporter to use the "Bribe" card? This thing was over on February 5th, and the corporate owned media, along with some of the generally disillusioned, are just beginning to catch up.Bitter, party of 1.

Ironic post, considering what a bunch of anti-social screaming banshees the 'Obama-youth' have been during this election. Especially considering the caucuses where the Obamaheads made it a personal obligation to SHOUT DOWN any Hillary supporter that stood in their way...
Why don't the YOUTH put away the HYPOCRISY for a change, and get down OFF THE CROSS. Their FAKE MARTYRDOM as well as Obama's is as tinny, and irresponsible as a Jerry Falwell act!

This is what psychologists call PROJECTION. While the OBAMA HEADS have been WHINING about RACISM, the press has been free to exercise sexism without consequence... Hateful, hypocritical Hopium addicts like yourself, are why Obama has such negatives among people that don't support him! You want him to win, do him a favor, and STFU, and tell the rest of the Hopium addicts to do the same!

Sad to see you having such an irresponsible position towards addiction, Jaqueline. There's really nothing to be delighted about. The artificial short term happiness comes with dire consequences. We all know that addicts will cross all ethical and legal boundaries to get more of their stuff. In their selfish craze they don't care how much they hurt others and themselves.
Pls, DARE to resist, and stop the abuse of hope!
Winners don't use drugs!
Just say no!

Actually wtf (WTF!?), it seems to me that you are the one who is well versed in "Projection". No one on this end made a personal assessment about anyone riding the Brittanic er, Clinton campaign."Hateful, hypocritical, hopium addicts"? Cute, but what I've found is that just like Regressives, if you can't dazzle someone with substance, you try to confuse them with bull$**t. If you think the corporate owned media has been more unfair to Mrs. Clinton, than to Obama, then you are truly delusional. 1/2 month on Jeremiah Wright? Please. bottom line is, Clinton approached this thing in an arrogant, presumptive manner. As if all she had to do was declare that she was running, and getting the nomination would be a mere formality, and she got her a** handed to her. Sorry to tell you the truth, but there it is.

Hmm, btw, totally OT, and pls excuse me if this is too personal (or if I confuse you with another Jacqueline), but did you really ever say "wonk you out"? This doesn't sound like you at all. Not in the slightest poetic enough...

I'm addicted to:(1) Trying to live up to ideals with which this country was supposedly built upon.(2).Trying to be a positive force in my community. (3)Seeing everyone around me as being no better or worse than me.And (4). Kicking regressive a** with the truth!
