Momma said wonk you out

AND WALDO. I DEFINITELY SEE WALDO.

Portrait-thumb-560x308-7527.jpg

"From my misspent years in DC," writes James Fallows, "I believe I can identify every person in this photo." He's better than me, then. From left to right, I see Austen Goolsbee, Tim Geithner, Larry Summers, Peter Orszag, and Jared Bernstein. Beyond that, I'm stumped.

I think that's Gene Sperling behind Summers. I may be unduly excited to get one you didn't.

Upper left and upper right, Bloom and Rattner. Between Summers and Obama, Gene Sperling. To Obama's left, Carol Browner and Gary Locke. Behind Orszag, the guy whom Obama designated to help devastated auto towns. Between Geithner and Bloom, vertically: Search me.

The man in the middle is Barack Obama.

Man, tough day to be Gary Locke.

Damn, Mike beat me to the punchlike. Just half an hour too late...

The bald eagle in the circle on the dais is named Henry Winstead, I went to law school with him.

Looks like Secretary Shinseki to me on the far right.

Looks like Secretary Shinseki to me on the far right.

Looks like Secretary Shinseki to me on the far right.

Oops. Sorry for triple entry. Technical problems.

Awesomest award goes to whoever can name the guy between Locke and Rattner.

Locke not Shinseki

Mike FTW!

Goolsbee, Geithner, Summers, Sperling, Nabors (I think, not entirely sure), Browner, Rattner, Locke, Bernstein, Locke. Only one I can't Id is the guy about Austan. My best guess would be Ron Bloom based on Rattner being there and other "teams" being there (Sperling and Geithner, Orzag and Nabors). I don't really have much of a clue of what he looks like though beyond being a white dude so I may be wrong.

And I wasn't even BORN when James moved to Washington.

The most important personage in this picture is of course, the unnamed one -- the lurking opaque trapezoidal shape in upper left corner -- the teleprompter. You didn't see THAT from your years in Washington, James Fallows, because its constant use by Obama is new and unprecedented.

Is this the new right wing attack on Obama - he uses a fascocialism teleprompter?

I miss all the good memes when I put the computer away for a few days.

Oh, I see, you're just trying to promote your horrible blog. My bad - carry on.

APS

right wing attack???? Just pointing out a fact of life. Make of it what you will.

The Teleprompter and his (or her) twin, on each end of the stage. Only twins there.

If I was right-wing I'd call them TOTUS, but I'm not, so I won't mention it...

I see 11 people who I'd rather not see holding power or influence in the country, but only one is a woman. Also, if you look really closely, you can see the strings attached to Obama's arms, legs and jaw. This is not a picture of "change we can believe in." Too bad, "change" was nothing more than a marketing slogan, I am increasingly disappointed in Obama.

Looks like Summers is nodding off again.

Some of these are guesses, but the others are, I think, Gene Sperling, Gary Locke, Diana Farrell, the economist from the University of Maryland heading one of/the auto bailout groups (I think his name is Ed Henry, but isn't that also the name of the CNN anchor?), and Steven Rattner who is also from the auto group. The guy in the corner, near Summers and Goolsbee? I don't think I've ever seen him before.

Why are there two teleprompters? theories: so he can look more natural and turn his head when he speaks, rather than have eyes fixed on one point or; to receive answers from more than one source, so that he can choose the one he likes better. Interesting that a man who trusts himself to remake the country doesn't trust himself to speak without being fed all his lines.

The women is Carol Browner beyond a doubt.

i don't know who it is but the dude in the back behind Orszag is not Rob Nabors.

Every day is a tough day to be Commerce Secretary.

Left to right:

Bashful, Dopey, Sleepy, Sneezy, Doc, and all the rest Grumpys. Happy was at an undisclosed location.
