Momma said wonk you out

ARLEN SPECTER NOW OPEN TO A PUBLIC PLAN.

Lot of health reform posts on the blog today. That's because there's a lot of health reform policy news today. For instance, Arlen Specter, who recently gave a one word "no" when asked if he supported a public plan on Meet the Press, is now proclaiming himself open to a public plan:

In a letter to the progressive group Health Care for America Now, Specter said he looks forward to ``discussing and considering'' the issue. He said a starting point could be a proposal by Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., that seeks to maintain a level playing field between the private and public sector.

The mark of a great political mind, I guess, is the ability to hold two contradictory ideas within days of each other.

Elsewhere, The Washington Post -- where I'll be starting next week -- just created a health care reform super site, including a blog from Ceci Connolly. Welcome to the 'sphere!

Congratulations on the move to the WP. i hope there'll be room for a blog for you. Please do all of us a favor and periodically chide George Will and Robert Samuelson. They need it.

Perhaps it is too early to judge, but the WaPo home page nowhere mentions this healthcare reform site.

I also find the pull-down menu of "Editorials, Opinions, Columns and Blogs" less than useful (I'm actualy trying to be non-harsh). No key to what is current from any of those listed. Some folks get to be listed under both Op-Eds and Columnists (George Will, Kathleen Parker, David Broder).

Even worse is the single lonely entry for "Blogs" at the bottom of the pull-down, which brings up a list of nearly ONE HUNDRED (100!) blogs, with the subject area, but no headlines for current posts.

It's amazing that the WaPo chooses to pay nearly a hundred folks to write and suffer in obsurity with no readers because the readers can't find the blogs. I'd bet the traffic is a real embarassment if ever revealed. What do these bloggers tell their friends they do for living?

I guess paying for the right to say 'we got blogs' is better than saying 'forget blogs', but if they are invisible there isn't much difference.

This is good news. The public plan is always presented in a defensive fashion, mentioning it right before a statement about how compromise is needed. Considering the most politically craven guy is willing to give it a chance is a good thing.

When you wrote "welcome to the 'sphere", I imagined you said it like Sean Connery in The Rock.

thanks for the information...

Costs of health care paid for by government programs, (Medicare-Medicaid etc.) could be reduced, to a fraction of their current expenditures, with better outcomes, if the services for these programs were delivered from a utilitarian VA style National Health Care System. bacak germe ameliyatı

Easy Web Zone recently began, with the best intentions, to do some Christmas shopping. One gift for a family member and five more for myself later, I called it a night. One of my purchases that has become my newest obsession is my new Crystal Bib Necklace from Martin + Osa. Sometimes while out shopping I find myself buying a lot of accessories, rather than another outfit. In this fickle economy, occasionally choosing a new accessory is the obvious and cheaper option. It’s those little, pretty, sparkly details that draw me in over and over again.

There are things like metal detector, such as gold and silver treasure, if any, to spend money, want to buy a metal detector to find gold. It may not be able to get the treasure.

I haven’t read the full article yet, but couldn’t wait to comment on the audio slide show. Well done. You shared so many moving thoughts and observations in just a brief slide show.
