MORE BUDGET NONSENSE.
Another day, another article explaining that even though John McCain says he's going to balance the budget by 2013, literally nothing he's proposed suggests that that's even remotely plausible. The fact that McCain is either consciously misleading voters as to his agenda or is a political naif will, however, not be a very big story. Certainly not as big as the fact that Barack Obama said he'd take into account the opinions of generals on the ground when implementing his withdrawal plan. That Obama's comment demonstrates a responsible approach to public policy while McCain's suggests a disinterested, opportunistic approach is, of course, irrelevant to the amount of coverage they receive.

That Obama's comment demonstrates a responsible approach to public policy...
So, his previous statements about pulling out of the war regardless to win the nominiation from the base was.......not responsible?

Barack Obama said he'd take into account the opinions of generals on the ground when implementing his withdrawal plan.
Just like, oh I don't know, George Bush! Because generals always want to withdraw troops, right? Obama has eight or nine Clintonites on his senior security board, three of them former cabinet members. I'm looking for the 'change we can count on' there.

Newsflash: Bush ain't runnin'
Obama said that on the first day of office he would march in the generals and tell them to make plans to vacate Iraq within a short amount of time.
Oh, yeah, tha's when he needed the left to get the nomination.

I'm not one to harp on the meaning of "disinterested", as compared with "uninterested". In this case, however, you probably should reconsider your word choice. A politician being disinterested in a policy question is *good* thing.
