Momma said wonk you out

SPECIAL GUEST STAR: AL GORE.

"The idea of drilling our way out of our energy crisis is ridiculous, if not abhorrent. There used to be an old remedy for hangovers called 'hair of the dog that bit you,' where you go back the next morning and take another drink. That's sort of what this reminds me of. Have a fossil fuel crisis? Let's go back for a bit more!"

Meanwhile, did I mention Al Gore is here?

COMMENTS

July 2006 Rolling Stone: When asked about extracting oil from shale, Gore replied: "You know, junkies find veins in their toes."

It seems that Al "will not debate anyone who disagrees with him on climate change" Gore is a bit of a carbon junkie himself.
More hot air hypocrisy from Al Gore
Of course, we saw plenty of hypocrisy -- especially the fact that Gore didn't ride his bike or take public transporation to the event. He didn't even take his Prius! Instead, he brought a fleet of two Lincoln Town Cars and a Chevy Suburban SUV! Even worse, the driver of the Town Car that eventually whisked away Gore's wife and daughter left the engine idling and the AC cranking for 20 minutes before they finally left.

Also, he's fat, Paul. Troll harder, dude.

Hair of the dog -- cute wordplay, but not analysis or serious thought. Paul L. is so right -- Gore indulges himself hugely, while calling for others to change their ways. And a "troll" is what -- anyone who doesn't buy into the worship of Gore?

We should all go green, if only there was a way to pay for all those solar cells and wind turbines. If only we had a couple hundred billion extra we could dedicate to renewable energy.

Why is Gore and progressives in general such dumb asses? How obvious does a solution need to be for you to get a clue?

Problems;
1. Oil money made by ME, Venezuela, Russia and other countries we don’t like
2. Good jobs in America that pay well
3. Carbon footprint from shipping oil half way across the world
4. 100s of billions needed to fund and research in renewable energy

And it never dawns on you morons that drilling at home solves all of those;
1. Every dollar spent on domestic oil is one less sent to countries we have problems with plus is a 7-12 fold increase to domestic GDP
2. All stages of exploration up to drilling are high paying jobs, offers plenty of entry level work all the way up to highly skilled engineering and research
3. Your not shipping it across an ocean to get here, less risk of interruption from world events
4. tax it, we could easily fund 100% of our renewable energy goals off increased domestic drilling. The compounding effect on our economy, new jobs and such could create a boon economy by itself.

Question for you genius progressives; Why are you willing to spend $120 a barrel to buy foreign oil and leave ours in the ground till it is worthless? No one is disputing that large amounts of oil will be needed for 50 years plus, we can’t make the change overnight. The Progressive position appears to be spend trillions on foreign oil and leave ours in the ground till it is worthless. If we all know we are moving away from fossil fuels why not drill ours while it still has value?

Nate, please keep telling it like it is. Not that the nihilists will ever listen, but the other 99% of the American population probably will.

It seems that Al "will not debate anyone who disagrees with him on climate change"

That is true. C'mon, Al, get in there and make your case.
