Momma said wonk you out

MORE PALIN EXTREMISM.

Turns out that the Alaskan Independence Party is also the Alaskan affiliate of the American Constitution Party, which is basically a third party that demands the institution of a Christian theocracy (Goal: "to restore American jurisprudence to its original Biblical common-law foundations.") This sort of makes sense, as Palin's political views suggest much more affinity for the far religious right than for secession movements. But this is all getting fringier and fringier.

So will Dems be insistent enough to make Palin "denounce" and "reject" these groups?

Hmmm. Sounds like McCain bought the Democrats an early Christmas present, if this stuff keeps up.

He even gift wrapped it.

Now, what are the Dems going to get McCain? That's the question.

WTF do these people mean by "Biblical common-law foundations"? Seriously. Colonial law had a flirtation with Biblical literalism in the Puritan colonies, which was then *rejected* in favor of a common-law approach based on British models.

WTF do these people mean by "Biblical common-law foundations"?

Have to wonder if they didn't mean "natural law." Going in for the common law is just odd. Aren't these the people always bitching about activist judges?

I would like better sourcing on this. I am a believer in what Talk2Action works for, and respect many of their writers, but I recently had to publicly resign from the group because of Dr. Clarkson's recent descent into what I can only call McCarthyite reasoning. Just as 'Tail-Gunner Joe' tried to turn every liberal into a Communist, Dr. Clarkson has recently begun seeing dominionists under the bed, and has been trying to turn every religious conservative into a 'dominionist theocrat.' (They are fools, yes, their ideas are dangerous to the ideas we stand for, they are frequently either liars or self-deluders, but they are not necessarily dominionists. In fact, I remember only a few months ago when writers on T2A were very careful to make this distinction.)

This does not necessarily mean he is wrong in this case, just that his reliability is questionable, and I'd really appreciate another source for this.

Ah, so that explains why Palin throws in a half-dozen or so references to the AIP's reverence for the constitution in her video address to the group. It's one of those Christian codeword things...

"Now, what are the Dems going to get McCain?"

They're decent folks, I'm sure they'll thank him for a hard-fought campaign.

If she thinks the constitution has anything to do with theocracy ("American Constitution Party"), that would explain why she thinks the Founding Fathers had anything to do with the "one nation under God" clause in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I'm now a frontpage poster at T2A. I certainly don't agree with the dominionist every under bed notions. I'll try to keep that perspective in mind. I am more interesting in debunking the "Christian Heritage" arguments for why SHOULD BE be a "Christian Nation." They argue because America was "FOUNDED" to be a "Christian Nation," and I show that it wasn't.

Palin has been a registered Republican since 1982, when she turned 18. This is simply another ridiculous red herring that is given prolonged life by the Dem hysteria of confronting a blue-collar mom with genuine credentials on energy & executive experience---compared to ethereal Obama & hair-plug Joe Biden.

The Big Smear tactics that Uncle Joe & Lenin taught the "useful idiots" continues---the political elites hate facing off with a blue-collar opponent.

"Biblical common-law"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
That would be like Sharia Napoleonic law, then?

It appears clear, right now, that Sarah Palin was never a member of the AIP. Although they are apparently claiming her, the documentation isn't there. Apparently they thought that because she was nice to them and didn't tell them to buzz off, that meant they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

This is fun. Almost as soon as some bizarre revelation comes out about Sarah Palin, it turns out it's either flat-out wrong or, at least, not entirely right.

Still, she still seemed fairly sympathetic to the AIP. But perhaps she was just playing Alaskan politics?

sarah palin was never a member of the aip.

you have become literally unbelievable.

maybe you should head over the the daily kos.

Kevin s.w.

Sarah's husband was a member of the AIP, which makes her one by one degree of separation. Learn to think like EzraK & you'll elide over such inconvenient little mistakes---it's the good intentions that count, don't you see?

Sarah Palin & her blue-collar pedigree will help McCain carry Ohio & PA & maybe even the North Central states like MI, WI, & MN.

Sarah Palin & her blue-collar pedigree

???

She's the daughter of a school secretary and a teacher / track coach. She has a degree in Communications. What blue collar pedigree?

Oh, wait, you must be talking about her husband's blue-collar pedigree, which makes her blue collar by one degree of separation. Learn to think like daveinboca & you'll elide over such inconvenient little mistakes---it's the good intentions that count, don't you see?

Hey Prup (aka Jim Benton) - here is another source - http://constitutionparty.com/view_states.php?state=AK - this is the Constitution Party's own website that lists the Alaskan Independence Party as their party in Alaska. Here's what the Constitution Party says on its home page: Join the Constitution Party in its work to restore our government to its Constitutional limits and our law to its Biblical foundations

To those of you who are disputing Sarah Palin's support of the AIP, haven't any of you seen for yourselves her videotaped welcome to the 2008 AIP convention? She may not be a member, but she sure as heck has been supportive.

Does anyone else recognize the similarities between Palin's fanatic words "God's will..." and Osama bin Laden's interview with Al-Jazeera television correspondent Tayseer Alouni in October 2001?

Bin Laden: "God, who provided us with his support and kept us steadfast until the Soviet Union was defeated, is able to provide us once more with his support to defeat America on the same land and with the same people. We believe that the defeat of America is possible, with the help of God, and is even easier for us, God permitting, than the defeat of the Soviet Union was before."

Do we really want a fanatical Christian government? This is the most important issue of all.
