STRAIGHT SLEEZE.
I really can't wait for the press conference where McCain tearfully atones for this ad:
I'm sure he'll be very sorry. Meanwhile, Rick Davis is ascending ever higher up. Out-of-Touch. "I don't know if you really want to turn a campaign into a CNBC news show on the stock market," he says. At this point, his oxygen must be thinning.

These ads are effective. I'm starting to have doubts about Obama because he works in the same organization as McCain.

Ezra, you seem pretty vague on this. Exactly which fact stated in this ad is not true?

Ezra,
I don't think Rick Davis is so much ascending into the stratosphere as descending into the Marianna trench. Maybe nitrogen narcosis is starting to effect everyone on the McCain-Palin bus...

As we see the final desperate days of McCain '08 play out, I see a sort of tragic irony that will be recorded by history.
I think McCain tried to listen to the angels of his better nature in 2000 (to the point where I actually sympathized with him a bit), and he was simply chewed up by the Bush-Rove buzzsaw.
This election he succumbed to the Rovian style of campaigning at a time when the country is all too weary of it - or in too serious of mood to humor it.
I think history will show that McCain chose - not once but twice - the exact opposite strategy than what was called for at the moment.

McCain (in collusion with GWB) is executing the scorched earth tactic. They are destroying every last shred of America's reputation and economic power in order to deny Obama and the Dems any chance of resurrecting our country.

..its not about whether its true or not. Its about the fact that anything in that ad is completely irrelevant to his ability to do the job in question.
It also fails to explain any of a number of questionable relationships McCain has, including his marriage to a convicted drug addict who used her charity ties to illegally obtain excessive amounts of pain medication. ..ya thats real class. Wonder what drugs she could lay her hands on from pennsylvania avenue.
He is a failure. McCain should have stayed a senator, then the darker side of his story including massive womanizing, blatant nepotism, and poor military record would never have been so widespread as it is today.

You know its just maddening that people pay attention to this terrorist crap that they keep dishing out from the dark corners of the McCain campaign.
There is no proof of this, not even any evidence. Guilt by association? If you've worked with anyone who was a teen or young adult in the 60's its likely one of them could be considered a terrorist. Civil disobedience was the order of the day for many many groups. (though not many actually went as far as bombings.)
What if he really is? Are we such complete pussies that we cant take care of 1 guy? He doesnt become king. The balance of powers is there so we could impeach any president that starts acting against the interests of the country.Though Im at a loss as to why the dems have refused to do anything of the sort against Bush.
People afraid that a terrorist would be secretly waiting to give us universal healthcare and raise taxes on the rich? Or perhaps he'll propose a budget to congress that slashes the entire defense budget to 0 so Al Quaeda can invade. ..except they would have to approve it first.
No if he was a terrorist..he would give speaches constantly reminding the people of what a dangerous world we live in. He would warn us to live in fear of nebulous organizations with secret members, then use that to justify gutting our personal freedoms and pump millions into unneeded security apparatus and mercenary armies. ..oh wait, no thats the current president.
Listen to what the man says, and watch what he does in office. If the 2 don't coincide have your representative call him out on it. If and when they do, we'll all be better off.
What a giant pant load of crap.

If McCain does offer a "heartfelt" apology for the increasingly KKK-like nature of his campaign (and I doubt that he will), nobody will listen and nobody will care. He has sold the last shred of his integrity for power and, unless he manages a miraculous comeback, will be relegated to the Arizona desert to die a bitter, broken old man.

I think history will show that McCain chose - not once but twice - the exact opposite strategy than what was called for at the moment.
I think history will show that McCain chose the opposite strategy of what was called for, during the campaign, dozens of times. I'm a conservative, I'm voting for Republican, and I've been unimpressed by McCain's campaign from the word go.
I think the Bill Ayers association is fair game, as much as Charles Keating is for McCain--or Sarah Palin's relationships with Hitler, Charles Manson, Satan and a Cult of Secessionist Snake-Handlers Who Speak in Tongues might be. But it's hardly the most conservative issue to be attacking Obama on. Or, John McCain could be promoting his strength on conservative issues! Oh, wait . . .

Both FactCheck.org and politifact.com savaged this ad's false claims in today's posts.
Politifact:
"This attack is false, but it's more than that – it's malicious. It unfairly tars not just Obama, but all the other prominent, well-respected Chicagoans who also volunteered their time to the foundation. They came from all walks of life and all political backgrounds, and there's ample evidence their mission was nothing more than improving ailing public schools in Chicago. Yet in the heat of a political campaign they have been accused of financing radicalism. That's Pants on Fire wrong."

""their mission was nothing more than improving ailing public schools in Chicago""
This is completely false, Ayers plan wasn't 'improvement', it was radicalization of the students. Ayers spent millions and students got far worse.
These people are arguing INTENT not OUTCOMES.
Ohh, Ayers wanted to help..even though he should be nowhere near a school or children.
What kind of school, or government entity would ever think to hire Ayers with his background?
Are their no out of work professers who could do a far better job then a guy that tells kids to kill their parents?
Ayers couldn't even get a job as a first grade teacher in most schools with his background and disgusting public statements.

Since Obama was 'mistaken' that he believed Dohrn and Ayers were 'rehabilitated', why doesn't he call on the couple to go to the FBI and outline completely all the crimes they and their group were involved in??
He could promise them a pardon when he becomes President.
Dohrn is already under investigation for two police officer murders, why doesn't she come forth and admit to the facts and take a poligraph??
Why is Dohrn, Ayer and Obama hiding? Trying to run out the clock???

Ayers plan wasn't 'improvement', it was radicalization of the students. Ayers spent millions and students got far worse.
That is the issue McCain should be raising. Ayers used the term "radicalization" and he meant it. He looked at the educational system as a tool for change rather than to teach the academics.
