Biden debate flow chart:

QUESTION -- LIE ASS OFF -- FAKE OVERLY WHITE TOOTHY SMILE -- COMB BACK HAIR PLUGS

bIDEN LIES:
1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to
increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT
VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama
never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud
Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden
attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has
opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to
“raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain
and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the
field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the
President of the United States had already said he would veto
regardless of it’s passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal,
but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new
coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal
and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is
exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for
alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on
people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset
any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is
false

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits
tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's
not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military
commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be
applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International
Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were
principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that
could be applied in Afghanistan.

10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he
actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead
wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize
the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has
been proven right.

12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000
wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise
taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the
four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet
two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were
that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be
part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in
the G-20.”

14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama,
Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

Ezra, this is hilarious.

It's also dead-on.

And: is it possible that your magazine could set up a commenter registration or something? Because these off-topic invariably troll-generated anonymous comments really derail the conversation and drag down the logic of the thread, even if it's a thread about something light and witty.

I hope something can be done. Thanks.

Many in the lamestream media questioned why Palin was not at the Obama/McCain debate.

But did anyone ask why Hillary wasn't at the Biden-Palin debate spinning for OBama/Biden?

Another HUGE issue I think Ezra should address is the extensive ant-Jewish and Anti-Semetic ties between Barack Obama and his friends? Why is this issue ignored?

From Rev Wright, to Farrakhan to Sharpton. Why should we believe Obama is any different then those that he hung with and learned from for 20 years?

Its like the 800 pound gorilla in the room, everyone knows there is an ugly string of Anti-Jewish sentiment in the black community, and directly with Obamas black supporters...how about a few words on why any Jew should trust Obama?

Why should anyone believe him now after a lifetime of supporting and being mentored by Jew haters?

This list is the kind of thing I imagine Sarah Palin thinking about before she goes to bed, except she ends every point with, "I should have said that, that stupid Biden...."

Studying Bidens answers, you get the feeling the man suffered some kind of brain damage from his surgeries. His is living in a time warp of sorts and thinks he knows things that aren't really true.

Here is one good one:

BIDEN SAID: "Look, all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie's Restaurant or walk into Home Depot with me where I spend a lot of time and you ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration has made them better off in the last eight years."

Katie's Restaurant is no longer in business; IN FACT KATIES RESTAURANT WAS on Union Street 25 or 30 years ago.

Does Biden suffer from Alzheimers?? Seriously

trip trap trip trap across the bridge

But did anyone ask why Hillary wasn't at the Biden-Palin debate spinning for OBama/Biden?

Because, unlike Palin, Clinton isn't anyone's running mate, and thus there's no basis whatsoever for your comparison?

The Republican fax machine (or have they finally graduated to email?) has been spinning furiously overnight, it seems.

Actually, there never was a Katie's on Union St., but that level of nit-picking shows just how thin a read they have to stand on.

(OK, "reed." Maybe I have Alzheimer's.)

@Biggest Billy Goat Gruff,

Brilliant!

no one can be as stupid as anonymous: it just isn't possible.

when i read idiot piffle like anonymous produced, i weep for our educational system, since obviously anonymous knows how to use a computer, the internet, and the copy-and-paste function, yet there is no sign of rational thought at all.

for example, what did general mckiernan actually say? well, this:

“Afghanistan is not Iraq,” said Gen. David McKiernan, who led ground forces during the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and took over four months ago as head of the NATO-led coalition in Afghanistan.

During a news conference yesterday, McKiernan described Afghanistan as “a far more complex environment than I ever found in Iraq.” The country's mountainous terrain and rural population, its poverty and illiteracy, its 400 major tribal networks and history of civil war all make for unique challenges, he said.

“The word I don't use for Afghanistan is 'surge,' ” McKiernan emphasized, saying that what is required instead is a “sustained commitment” to a counterinsurgency effort that could last many more years and would ultimately require a political, not military, solution.

But did anyone ask why Hillary wasn't at the Biden-Palin debate spinning for OBama/Biden?

Because she's not a hired flack? Because all she would do, given her own history debating both Obama & Biden in the primaries, is act as a distraction.

Hillary (and Bill, of course) are figures too large for the campaign to use indiscriminately. They're much more helpful on the stump than they could be with the media.

Re: Pat-Sarah's comments:

Yes, of course Obama hates Jewish folks; Farrakhan hates the Jews, so all black people hate the Jews.

That's such an idiotic generalisation that it's not even funny.

Just when I start being hopeful about the intelligence and judgment of Americans, I read comments like Pat-Sarah's and realise that there's no hope with that brand of rampant stupidity infecting political discourse.

I agree with Obama and Mccain

Just when I start being hopeful about the intelligence and judgment of Americans, I read comments like Pat-Sarah's and realise that there's no hope with that brand of rampant stupidity infecting political discourse.

What really, really sucks is that McCain basically has no choice at this point but to turn this campaign into the ugliest one in modern history. He is basically going to start sounding exactly the same as the anonymous blog trolls. It's the only way he can win, and it's not going to be pretty. I don't know if it will work or not. Or, it will work, because it always works, but I don't know if it will work enough. But I do know that it will be a terrible, divisive, shameful moment in our history, and it will batter everyone's spirits even more.

Of course, McCain could spare the country this fate by running an honorable campaign, win or lose. But I think we know by now that John McCain is not an honorable man.
