Momma said wonk you out

NA NA NA NA...HEY HEY HEY...

Looks like Mark Begich has won the election, and Senator Ted Stevens will be retiring to spend more time with his seven felony convictions.

There is a downside to all of this as well. With such a heavy majority in both houses, the Democrats pretty much own all of the problems.

Oh, for a few months, it'll be blamed on Bush, but that will only go so far and then....it's YOURS.

As with all presidents and majority congresses, they get credit for things that happen on their watch, even if they had little to do with it and conversely, they get the blame when things go badly.

El Viajero: Oh, they've got about a year before the attribution of responsibility shifts. Let's not panic quite yet. And the press has made such a big deal about 60 that if the D's only have 59 then the Republicans can get some blame if they try to obstruct.

Oh, for a few months, it'll be blamed on Bush, but that will only go so far and then....it's YOURS.

And then... what, they lose for or 5 seats in the senate in '10, leaving them with a paltry 54 or so seat majority?

Oh, the humanity!

Politics isn't about who you get to say "nya nya nya, you're to blame!" It's about who has power. And the Democrats pretty much have a lock on it for the next 6-8 years, probably more if the economy recovers by '12 and the US doesn't involve itself in any quagmire-like wars.

What a day. Cheney and Gonzalez are indicted by a friggin TEXAS grand jury, no less, and then Oral Roberts University announces that they are laying off ten percent of their workforce. Almost enough to make you think that something might be changing a little bit here and there.

And God closes another door on Sarah Palin.

...and the US doesn't involve itself in any quagmire-like wars.

Now that's some fun stuff!

When it's Bush in charge, it's "Bush's War" even though most Democrats at the time voted for it.

But when it comes to even speculating about an upcoming war, it's never "Obama's War".....*NO*....instead the US might "involve itself" as if it just would happen....out of the blue.

Who could have known?

Fun stuff, indeed!!! Keem 'em coming!

El Viajero fails to realize that some real governance is in order now. It's not "all politics, all the time" anymore.
Yeah, the Dems will "own the problems" kind of like the bank owns a foreclosed house. And maybe they will take it on the chin for problems that were created and accrued during a Republican pres/congress -- but so be it. I'm willing to pay that price, if it means that real grownups are in charge NOW to help fix what the irresponsible, small-government hacks broke.

Huzzah! Maybe now that will help quiet the "center-right country" crew. Even Alaska couldn't stand 'em.
