THE REMINDER.
Health Care For America Now will be running this ad in the DC market for the next week or two.
My understanding is Obama is still in Chicago, so it's not clear that he'll actually see it. But his advisers will, and they'll hear the quiet threat: If Obama does not push on health reform, then the liberal activist groups and unions who supported his candidacy will see it as a promise unfulfilled, and will not hesitate to bring that up.

Never happen.
Unless he's an idiot, Obama will not call for such a drastic change in this teetering economy.
And even if it weren't for the economy giving him cover, he would not do it anyway. Obama is the perfect politician as Bill Clinton was. He's very charasmatic, he ran to the left early and then to the center to garner the moderates and has since left all of those who helped him behind. Just look at his cabinet.
Obama, like Clinton, is out for Obama and he will triangulate every issue.

So you expect him to win reelection in 2012 as well?

The encumbent always has the advantage and it wouldn't surprise me....*unless* he persues some of the radial agenda of the far left wing of the party.

One big problem is that if Obama doesn't deliver the activist left that organized for him and worked for him will not put the same kind of effort next time around. They'll act for him like they did with Gore. That's not to say that he won't win, but it will be harder. Democrats need to realize that if you don't cater to your base, you get into electoral trouble. This is what McCain failed to do.

At Health Care for America Now, we are thinking of this as a message to Congress, really. Obama is fully behind health care reform, but we've got to remind Congress that Obama got elected because of it.

Health care was the fourth most important issue to voters in the election, and coincidentally-- the fourth most important issue to Obama-- behind the economy/bailout fix, Iraq and Energy.
So nice try at the spin, but only one dmoestic policy reform goes first. Obama has clearly said "Energy for America Now, Health Care second." But a noble attempt to force him to otherwise and make your group relevant.

Actually, not true. Obama has been very consistent with his list of priorities: the economy, energy, health care, and education, in that order. We're happy with that list of priorities.
