KENNETH COPELAND CLAIMS HUCKABEE TOLD HIM "I WILL STAND WITH YOU."

As I reported last week, according to former Bush adviser Doug Wead, a person attending televangelist and Grassley target Kenneth Copeland's invitation-only ministers' conference last week reported that Copeland "reconvened" the group as a "private meeting" and raised some emergency campaign funds for Mike Huckabee. IRS rules prevent tax-exempt organizations from using their resources to endorse or campaign for a candidate.

Last week, Kenneth Copeland Ministries did not respond to TAP's request for comment. This morning, the Trinity Foundation, a Dallas televangelist watchdog group, has posted video clips of Copeland at the conference, in which which he describes a conversation he had with Huckabee last year about the Grassley investigation. Copeland says that "at the Lord's instruction," he had invited Huckabee to appear on his television program, which was taped before the Grassley investigation broke. Copeland then asked the candidate ordained minister of the gospel whether he still wanted him to air the broadcasts. According to Copeland, Huckabee "hollered":

"Are you kidding me? Why should I stand with them and not stand with you? They've only got 11 percent approval rating." And then he said, "Kenneth Copeland, I will stand with you." He said, "You're trying to get prosperity to the people and they're trying to take it away from 'em." He said, "I will stand with you any time, anywhere, on any issue." That settled that right there. I said, "Yeah, that's my man! That's my man, right there."

In a second clip, Copeland says that he will not turn over information about donations to the ministry because it "belongs to God," adding that he won't even turn it over in response to a subpoena.

COMMENTS

I didn't reazlize that Kenneth Copeland supported Huckabee.

Kenneth Copeland is a false teacher.

I hope he is chanrged for contempt of his subpeona if he dosn't follow the request.

What is he hiding?

Let's see James Dobson's and others.... Let's see just how much they give back to he poor and the people. While your at it obtain Pat Robertson's info as well.

I'm pretty sure that responding to a subpoena falls under the "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" doctrine.

When it comes to the government, especially to Senator Grassley, Kenneth Copeland is not practicing what he preached for years.

When I was a Word of Faither, I constantly heard these verses preached from Copeland's pulpit ... Romans 13:1-7 (NLT, bold emphasis is mine):

Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. For the authorities do not frighten people who are doing right, but they frighten those who do wrong. So do what they say, and you will get along well. The authorities are sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for you will be punished. The authorities are established by God for that very purpose, to punish those who do wrong. So you must obey the government for two reasons: to keep from being punished and to keep a clear conscience. Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid so they can keep on doing the work God intended them to do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due.

Talk about NOT practicing what you preach!

Raven, as you know, I've written extensively about Copeland and protege Mac Hammond, and I watched the live video and reported on Copeland's conference.

He made the distinction in the conference between providing information to the IRS, which he said he was obligated to do, and to the Senate, where he claimed his private information would be made public. We know that's a dodge, but that's how he straddles the "render unto Caesar" obligation in his comments to the ministers.

The word in the bible is true no matter who preaches it. It is up to us as individuals to understand and practise what is in the bible. If we were to do this the world would be a better place. And before you question this you need to read what it says. Most don't. We shouldn't follow blindly anyone. Every great person in the bible failed miserably at one time. That doesn't change what we should aspire to.

Once in awhile I come across someone who does not agree with one preacher or another, then there are those websites and blogs who use there time to blast televangelists like Kenneth Copeland and what is called the prosperity teachers...They should really take a look at what the Bible says about Judging ones self...for as you judge another so shall you be judged...it also says if we say we follow one preacher or another we are but carnel...it is Jesus to whom we should follow....lets get off bashing each other....how can the nose tell the big toe what they are suppose to do....serve the Lord in Faith and Love...do unto others as you would want to be done unto ....Let Father God who's mercy is new every morning tend to his Children....He can best disapline them...and be careful for only by the grace of God go ye !!!

Way to go CL!!!
I believe the same way.

Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess the name of Jesus. He is Lord.

And before it's over Senator Grassly and the haters on this site will answer for making themselves tools of sin against the men of God.
