EVANGELICAL DEMOCRATS.
The folks at Faith in Public Life have been on top of the trend among pollsters to ignore Democratic evangelical voters in exit polling this primary season. So in partnership the Center for American Progress Action Fund, they commissioned Zogby to conduct exit polls in Missouri and Tennessee on Super Tuesday that examined trends among all evangelical voters. Their results, released yesterday, found that one in three white evangelical voters in those states participated in the Democratic primaries. The majority of evangelical voters (regardless of which primary they participated in) want an agenda that includes more than abortion and same-sex marriage, and listed jobs and economy as the most important issues for them in deciding who to vote for this year. Other issues at the top of their agenda: ending poverty, protecting the environment, and addressing HIV/AIDS.

an agenda that includes more than abortion and same-sex marriage
well, ain't that special? the economy and climate change, too? So the question is: will they join to support a pro-choice, pro-glbt-rights candidate who is also pro-environment and pro-equality?
cuz if they won't fuck 'em...

Well, if they're voting democrat, there's certainly a stronger pro-choice and even pro-lgbt record in the democratic party, than an environmentalism record and certainly no attempts to ensure equality. > Perish the thought.
Quit pissing on the "evangelicals." Hey, I hear the Republicans are still hiring.

Let's see, for issues of importance to evangelicals, we have "abortion and same-sex marriage", "jobs and economy", and "ending poverty, protecting the environment, and addressing HIV/AIDS."
Any word about the war, or are they cool with that? You know, being so proud of their religious beliefs and all.
Or have they just decided it would actually be easier to end *poverty* than the Iraq war?

"Or have they just decided it would actually be easier to end *poverty* than the Iraq war?"
Well, with the mendacity twins-- Clinton and McCain-- still out there, it *might* be easier to end poverty than end the War in Iraq, even given that "the poor are always with us." After all, Catholic charities, let's say, can continue to function even as our war mongers insist on funding campaigns that insist on tearing up the middle east.
So, yeah, maybe the evangelicals should *stop* going to the voting booths to end poverty and *start* going to the polls to decimate the war mongers.
You're right. I've finally seen the light on this one.
