MCCAIN BOOED BY THE BASE.
Mori reports that John McCain was initially booed today at the Conservative Political Action Convention as he spoke about his support for immigration reform.
A year ago, I saw Hillary Clinton heckled by a few anti-war Code Pink protesters at the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting here in D.C. But this far along in the election, I just can't imagine Clinton or Obama being greeted by "boos" at a gathering as influential for Democrats as CPAC is for Republicans. And it wasn't a few isolated activists who booed McCain -- it was a real chorus. Watch the video.

Everyone should watch the video. McCain really invited the boos with good humor and took them with even more good humor.
And, the boos turned into a loud chorus of cheers.
Seriously, this strikes me as a pretty civilized and good natured expression of difference of opinion. Much as I hope the wingnuts will help defeat McCain, this is evidence that my wish might not come true.
