CLINTON FINALLY WINS A MAJOR COLLEGE PAPER ENDORSEMENT.

As TAPPED-alum Ben Adler reported in Politico a few months back, Barack Obama and John McCain have been running away with the endorsements of college newspaper editorial boards. But today Hillary Clinton finally picked up a big one -- the endorsement of the Daily Pennsylvanian, the highly-regarded campus daily at the University of Pennsylvania:

Our endorsement is not a rejection of Obama's leadership qualities. But choosing the president of the United States is too important a decision to make based on hope alone. After finishing his term in the Senate and better showing us what he can do for the American people, Obama could one day be a remarkable president.

Clinton, on the other hand, is ready to lead this nation now. A successful champion for change, her experience in the Senate and as first lady gives her a better understanding of how Washington works. She has the ability to turn policy into reality. And her mastery of causes central to the Democratic Party's platform makes her better suited to challenge presumptive Republican nominee John McCain.

The editorial goes on to focus on Clinton's long-term advocacy for universal health care.

Some will be surprised that Penn, an Ivy League school, would reject Obama's appeal to creative class "wine trackers." But the university is known as being heavily pre-professional, a favorite choice of New Yorkers, and in general, much less of an activist campus than brethren such as Brown, or even Yale and Harvard. So all in all, the endorsement is not a huge shock.

Update: Kriston Capps, who makes a mean Texas BBQ, gets in touch to say Hey! Hillary also won the endorsement of the Daily Texan at UT-Austin! Kriston points out that this does not imply that he supports Clinton, just that you know, I should give Texas its due. Duly noted.

Excuse me, Clinton Finally wins a major college paper endorsement?

What about the Univeristy of Texas, which is my school and from anyone's vantage point a major school. In fact, one of the largest in the country!

Hello?? Did you not realize that this 'endorsement' is satire...it clearly states on the Daily Pennsylvania website that it is a joke. Newspaper website bloggers / writers are so quick to just jump on a headline without taking time to check their facts.

Sorry...I gave the wrong URL for the above post. It should have been:

http://media.www.dailypennsylvanian.com/media/storage/paper882/news/2008/04/09/News/penn-Dems.Vote.To.Switch.Endorsement-3312336.shtml

This is the URL where they make clear that it was only a joke.

You are confusing the endorsement of the paper's editorial board with the endorsement of the College Dems at Penn.

Why did you use the word FINALLY.I'm tire of the bashing even when something positive happens. Whay do you all hate Hillary.
