SUPERDELEGATES: OBAMA LEADS AMONG ELECTED OFFICIALS, CLINTON AMONG DNC MEMBERS.

According to Bloomberg, Barack Obama has surpassed Hillary Clinton in support from elected officials:

Obama, an Illinois senator, has the support of 99 Democratic U.S. lawmakers and governors, compared with Clinton's 96 -- a dramatic turnabout since the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses, when Clinton, a New York senator, had more than double Obama's support within this group, 91 to 43.

Clinton leads Obama by four lawmakers and governors if those from Michigan and Florida are counted; the two states held primaries in violation of party rules and were stripped of both superdelegates and delegates picked by voters. The party has been unable to resolve how to count their delegates.

Using the data collected at the DemConWatch blog, the Obama-Clinton super delegate gap comes to an average of about 31. However, by surpassing her in elected officials, Obama has reduced Hillary's core support to DNC members, where she leads Obama by 30. This leaves 148 undeclared DNC members out of 331 undeclared super delegates with 571 pledged delegates yet to be allocated.

COMMENTS

This has been my concern for a long time. People without a constituency to be held accountable to are even more dangerous in this process than SDs who are elected officials. You could hear it in the comments of some SDs on NPR's piece from the big CA DNC meeting over the weekend (the one where WJC made news more than once). None of the people interviewed were elected officials and all fell under Bill's spell, him making the case that this should go to the convention.

I know this has been said many times, but at a bare minimum, I hope this primary gets rid of SDs. Yes, that will require the SDs themselves giving up power, which is not likely, but I'm still hopeful. It's beyond nuts to not only have super-voters, but to have superiority bestowed on many of them with zero checks and balances (i.e., unelected DNC members).

This is to all pundits out there – whoever thinks Hillary should drop out early in this race.
I am an African American, 24 years old and who believes in equality and fair game. I know I can see and hear – and most of all make judgments when it comes to do the right thing. Yes I am a democrat but not a compromiser, and yes I am an African American but not a compromiser. Obama is trying to play us unlike Hillary. I certainly believe that I am above from the influence and don’t blow to the direction of the wind. If Obama becomes the Democrat Nominee, I ask all democrats here in Dallas, Texas and all over the United States of America to join me and make history – make John the Next President of the United Sates. Yes I am a democrat but not a compromiser, and yes I am an African American but not a compromiser!!!!
For those who think that our votes (those who voted for Hillary) are nothing but dirt, they shall see what we can do when November comes. We should all gather ourselves around John and teach those STUPID SUPER DELIGARES that money does not buy them vote especially after their explicit bigotry.
Please, I ask you to join me and do the right thing – teach those stupid pundits that we too have a brain despite their constant reminder how Hillary’s voters are from the low socio-economic demography.
Thank you.
