OBAMA STRIKES BACK AT THE SMEARS.

The Obama campaign has started a new Web site called Fight the Smears, to, well, fight the various smears that have been circulating about him via email. The site is basic -- a list of smears with explanations of why they're lies and a way you can email the information to your friends. It sounds like a simple idea -- that's why I think it just might work -- but it's also rather novel. Other campaigns, John Kerry's among them, had the idea that responding to attacks legitimized them. While in some circumstances responding can backfire, I think in this case the Obama campaign has the right idea -- they're not running ads denouncing these claims, they're providing a source targeted at people Googling these stories or trying to convince others of their inaccuracy.

COMMENTS

yeah but the web page/smear fighting section is terminally dull to read. I'd like to see really funny videos and things attacking the smears instead of point by point refutations. its quite tedious and hard to read and so I don't think its going to be all that effective. I guess I think laughter is really some of the best medicine there is for some of this egregious innuendo stuff.

John McCain’s Economic plan goes way beyond what the liberal culture can ever aspire to foresee let alone to accept. Rather than the democrat plan to tax the already diminishing USA based corporations and manufacturing companies, John McCain provides a plan with an outlook of American fiscal responsibility.

To make this extremely simple to comprehend, especially to a group of people who would support a candidate with skewed views who is proud to have sold crack cocaine to fellow students while sharing views with and continues to benefit from connections to terrorists, anti-Americans and racists, McCain’s economic plan is embodied as follows.

1. RETHINK: America must rethink the global views on what America is capable of in the current state of technology, engineering and the demands on such environments.

2. REFORM: America must rise to demands of a global economy, the need for higher quality and less restricted trade routes for Made in USA components that will exceed the current standards of currently produced items. The era of being able to purchase products that are currently Made by Slave and Child labor is done!

3. REINVENT: America and Americans must reinvent themselves to reach and maintain these standards and by sheer American ingenuity, control the world’s marketplace in the competitive manner as we have always been proud to rule.

The McCain solution can be very simple:

1. By creating a group of retrained and skilled individuals with the knowledge of what any manufacturing employer must know coupled with the requirements of the employee, the USA will have a base of ready made and willing manufacturing firms.

2. USA made products with the obvious USA based jobs create a whole new infrastructure for additional USA companies, from Asphalt to Zoos. Manufacturing companies need outside support and America needs jobs.

3. Traveling across the USA and you will see as many vacant buildings from failed businesses to other businesses that are suffering and dying. Business that seemingly thrive buys cheap China made products while Americans are looking for service industry jobs that non-working Americans can not afford to visit.
Let’s fill these empty stores with school and mini-manufacturing training centers. The USA made products can be sold and support the stores. Let the building owners write off the loss in taxes! More revenue will come from the new jobs and investment profits. Products designed and made by Americans from asphalt products to Zoo products all built of a better quality than slave labor China, Cambodia, India, Pakistan and the like.

4. Why not use these same buildings (old Wal-Mart Stores, Other Food stores put out of business by Wal-Mart’s, etc) as intermediate resell outlets as this plan pushes a major and immediate USA economic boom into reality.

5. Investors will once again invest into MADE IN USA products and companies and we will thrive on McCain’s Economic plan.

These three R’s will be accomplished by the McCain express and through wealthy American entrepreneurs who were once able to invest in America’s manufacturing capabilities but have since fallen into investments that have caused catastrophic world economy failure.

The failed housing market that has affected the world economy crashed due to massive investments in mortgages turned into paper wealth. No blame on homeowners who were looking to buy a house at lower interest rates unaware the market would become so saturated with those investor’s dollars that the market would fail.

The crude oil prices have created massive wealth from the trillions of dollars invested into crude turned commodity investment. There are no other reasons.

John McCain’s economic views encompass a certain personal responsibility demanded from each able bodied American. A demand to care for his or her own well being while allowing these “once proud Americans” a new chance to be proud of themselves and of what they can give to their society and their nation and not what they can take from their country.

What else can a country that some people were “not proud of until recently” do to grow and prosper? The government cannot do it alone, no matter how much sugar they coat it with.
We the People cannot do it without government incentive and a break now and then.

The USA might survive with some other plan of change but we will never become the once proud and great nation of highly skilled workers and thriving new business again without the 3R’s of McCain’s economic plan.

Guess we now know where McCain's internet development money is being spent. Looks like he outsourced defense of his non policy economic policies (whip inflation now!) to india.

"John McCain’s Economic plan goes way beyond what the liberal culture can ever aspire to foresee let alone to accept"

Thanks for confirming you're a nutcase in the very first sentence. That means I don't have to read the rest of your silliness.

Oh, and dear heart, McCain's plan is just more of the same policies that Bush has been trying for the past 7+ years. How are those working out for you and for America? And how are you planning to pay for the trillions of dollars of debt that the McCain plan will rack up?

Actually, now that I've read the rest of your post, I have to say that it's even more delusional than I thought it would be, particularly since it doesn't even remotely resemble McCain's actual economic plans, as stated in speeches and on his website.

In short, your entire post is nothing but a fantasy. Nice going!
