The group blog of The American Prospect

PERSON OF THE DAY: BRIAN BEUTLER.

Our friend and valued TAP Online contributor Brian Beutler was shot three times last night in a mugging in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Brian is already wise-cracking through the morphine at the hospital, where he has successfully come out of surgery and is expected to make a 100 percent full recovery to his old burrito-eating, Black Cat-lingering, liberal bloggy self.

Best wishes to Brian and his family. We're thinking of ya.

Holy crap! Glad to hear he made it through. Three times!

I saw McMegan's post on The Atlantic this morning that a friend of hers had been shot, obviously I had no idea that said friend was Brian.

I'm shocked to hear this. I'm glad to hear though that he's pulling through. Get well soon Brian!

Wow! He is lucky to be alive. My best wishes to Brian and his family and friends.

Who wants to be first to link this to the overturning if the DC gun ban? Not me.

Lurker from LGM. That is just horrible. I don't know Brian, but I eat in Adams Morgan about twice a month and I'll be at the Black Cat Sunday night, so I find this personal as well.

Please get well. Peace

Scary & shocking stuff. But I'm so glad he'll make a full recovery, and is cracking jokes, etc. Best wishes to Brian & family, And I hope the mugger is caught, and the area becomes safer.

Phew. Glad he is recovering. I've enjoyed his stuff. Best wishes to a full recovery. Peace & Health.

Wish him the best.

So, how's that gun ban working?
