OBAMA: SECRETLY CATHOLIC.

When President Obama addressed Muslims in his Cairo speech, he opened with the traditional Arabic greeting "As Salaam Aleikum." This shocking move prompted professional Islamophobe Daniel Pipes to conclude, "[b]y saying these words, Obama hints at his being a Muslim." Well, then I'm a Muslim too, because I've greeted people that way as well. Someone tell my rabbi that my Bar-Mitzvah was a complete waste.

Today we have more evidence that Obama's religion isn't what he says it is--referring to an upcoming meeting with the Pope, Obama said "Having a meeting with the Holy Father is a great honor and something that I'm very much looking forward to." Obviously, referring to Pope Benedict as "the Holy Father" means Obama is secretly a Catholic. The other possibility is that the president goes out of his way to respect the cultural mores of groups to which he doesn't belong, which is completely preposterous.

COMMENTS

Obama also hosted the first seder held in the White House. So he's obviously a secret Muslim, and a secret Jew, and a secret Catholic, and a professed Christian. Must be difficult to observe all those different rituals, but I'm sure he's up to the task.

Not to mention that secret meeting of the gays last week.

Obama must be a closeted gay too!

Serwer's and Negrino's comments may have pointed us to the mindblowing reality about Obama's religious beliefs.

Scientology!

Scientology writes of itself: "Scientology makes it possible for any religion to attain its goals and is therefore a religion of religions."

Stick that in your Daniel Pipes and smoke it!

Saying hello to Queen = Closet Anglophile Monarchist

They all went crazy about the fact that he said "Shukran" or thank you when talking to some arabic speaking dude.

But he also said "Spasiba" to Russian pres Medvedev in London, but they failed to bring that up.

so he tries to respect different languages. that's a GOOD thing.

(oh and by the way, most people in the cairo audience probably noticed the "ha-jib" instead of "hijab" pronunciation and the weird way he said 'al-azhar' which confirmed for the audience that there was no way in hell this guy could be muslim. he may respect the culture, but you can definitely understand he's an outsider to the culture.)

Sotomayor is the sixth catholic on the supreme court.
Newt Gingrich is a slimy little weasel but he just turned catholic.

Now when Roe vs Wade is negated by the Pope's orders there will be singing and dancing and cheering in all of the clueless.

But when Obama converts and the clueless finally catch on,
it isn't going to be just the snake handlers and holy rollers who go ballistic.

You going to see Mormons and Baptists and Seventh Day Adventist make a recap of the
reformation look like a joke.
If I were catholic, I would move to Paraguay and change my name to Bush or Cheney.

I've been lightly dropping this on some of the duller right wing blogs. Haven't hit powder yet but I will.

I really want to see the current supreme court "justices" decorating lamp posts.

As a former Catholic I am somewhat annoyed at the level of deference Obama is showing to the Catholic Church as an institution. Imagine if Obama joined an exclusively male club, or one that allowed women to join so long as they had no vote over the club's policies and no role to play in managing the place. That's the Catholic Church and I don't really care that its misogyny is faith-based. It still excludes women. The fact that it purports to talk about issues of extreme importance to women just makes it that much worse.

Rhis "political" stuff is "our Nation; it is serious; your "security" crap" is childish; you need to find a more intelligent balance!
