OSAMA'S STEALING MY RIFFS! Apparently, in the Sheikh's latest joint, Osama bin Laden quotes from Richard Perle and David Frum's book, An End to Evil. Frum complains that he was misquoted. Let's compare.
Osama:
"And among the most important items contained in Bush's speeches since the events of the 11th is that the Americans have no option but to continue the war. This tone is in fact an echoing of the words of the words of neoconservatives like Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Richard Perle, that latter having said previously that the Americans have no choice in front of them than to continue the war or face a holocaust."
Frum and Perle:
"For us, terrorism remains the great evil of our time, and the war against this evil, our generation's great cause. We do not believe that Americans are fighting this war to minimize it or to manage it. We believe they are fighting to win - to end this evil before it kills again and on a genocidal scale. There is no middle way for Americans: It is victory or holocaust. This book is a manual for victory."
Seems like a pretty accurate quote. If it were me, though, I think I might be more concerned with why my writings were being favorably woven into enemy propaganda.
Completely not getting it, Frum writes:
"Still, if any words of ours drew even one sting of shame from this fugitive killer ... I will take that as a compliment."
Not shame, David, affirmation. Encouragement. Osama bin Laden wants the "war on terror" to be understood as an existential struggle between Islam and the West, he wants it to be seen as the Great War of Our Time that the neoconservative war party seems intent on giving to him. You couldn't ask for clearer evidence that the fevered, apocalyptic alarmism of Frum and Perle is viewed positively by bin Laden than his presenting their words to his audience as proof that his strategy is working. Rather than seriously grapple with the implications of that, Frum has chosen to hide behind a claim of being "misquoted."

I found myself wondering if all this is really from bin Laden.
It just doesn't seem to fit, from the apparently trimmed and dyed beard to quoting the writings of US authors.
Dirty tricks, anyone?

It just seems that OBL has a pretty good strategy in place using Neocon kneejerk reaction of miltary attacks against them. When America is threatened or attacked, the neocon kneejerk reaction is "all or nothing", "with us or against us" military response. Its strategy, in line with that mindset, was a misguided invasion and now occupation of Iraq. Like a judo master using the momentum of an opponent's attack against the attacker, OBL not only has most of America's military power now pinned down in Iraq, but has done so with very little investment, and smoke and mirrors for the most part. In the meantime, OBL is using the Iraq invasion against America very successfully in recruiting committed anti-American activists for both miltant and political opposition to America. This is one of the most galling aspects of the neocon strategy in our American battle with violent extremists of all stripes, that they are fundamentally so obtuse in the accumulation and use of power.

Once I heard Frum say, on "Left, Right and Center," that it was America's "prestige" that was at stake in Iraq, his mindless militaristic babble lost what little interest it ever held for me. What a small, small man.

The beard isn’t the only thing that’s fake. The Osama is fake as well. Ever wonder why these tapes always appear when it most benefits the Cheney regime? Ever wonder why “Osama” reiterates left-wing talking points, enabling the Bushites to tell anyone who is dumb enough to listen that the Dems are on the same page as “Al Qaeda”? At what point did Osama bin Laden STOP working for the C.I.A.? Answer: When he died in December 2001.

Think there's a reason why the C.I.A. chief of station for the U.A.E. met with bin Laden in July 2001 when he was in that country for dialysis? http://www.guardian.co.uk/waronterror/story/0,1361,584444,00.html http://s3.amazonaws.com/911timeline/2001/lefigaro103101.html http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/DG13Ak02.html http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0111/S00018.htm
What do you think they talked about? Most likely he was asked if he would be willing to claim "credit" for 9/11 to which he apparantly refused, if you consider his four separate denials of involvement in the days after 9/11 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2001/11/11/wbin11.xml

In a 1998 letter Bin Laden said his goal was to goad America into a foolish war.
He actually KNEW that the USA would react with such knee-jerk violence and welcomed it as it gave Al Qeada authority and.

Since December of 2001/ spring of 2002 it was common knowledge in the German security apparatus that the US intended to keep the death of UBL/OBL under wraps IOT to prevent the foreseeable martyr cult.
His (for the GOP) politically convenient resurrection in fake video/ audio tapes resembles 'Emmanuel Goldstein' and the 'two minutes of hate' in George Orwell's novel '1984'. One hilarious aspects of this macabre show has the Bin Laden's impersonator citing the books of Noam Chomsky and Michael Scheuer. Both authors are hated by the Bush administration but completely unknown in the world of Islamist fanatics who rely on Sunnah and Qur'an for reference.

Yes, bin Laden quoted Frum on the position of the neocons. And?
DailyKos says this means that Osama bin Laden "loves the neocons" in linking to this post.
Really? So every time DailyKos quotes George Bush, that is evidence that DailyKos loves him?
Yawn. Whatever you libs have to do to run away from the fact that bin Laden used all your talking points, from attacking the Dems in Congress for being weak-kneed on Iraq, to global warming and the horrors of capitalism.

"Yes, bin Laden quoted Frum on the position of the neocons. And?"
Duh. The point is Frum at falsely claimed he was misquoted(1).
He then seemingly falsely characterised they way he was quoted. Was OBL stung by the direct assertion of the notion the US (directed by the Bush Administration) would not relent? (This seems unlikely, since engaging the US in direct confrontation has long been one of his objectives.) Was he simply making an observation? Or was he gloating? How would Frum know? (Or Kos, who in saying "Osama Bin Laden loves the neocons. For real." was plainly entirely serious ;P ? )
So Frum is in one or both cases a) stupid or b) lying. And popes are still shitting in the woods.
OBL attacked the Dems for not withdrawing from Iraq? Not heard about that...
From http://www.nowpublic.com/bin-laden-transcript via wikipedia.
"Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the
Democrats haven’t made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue
to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war
there, which has led to the vast majority of you being afflicted with
disappointment.
And here is the gist of the matter, so one should pause,
think and reflect: why have the Democrats failed to stop this war, despite them
being the majority?"
...
"So in answer to the question about the causes of the
Democrats’ failure to stop the war, I say: they are the same reasons which led
to the failure of former president Kennedy to stop the Vietnam war. Those with
real power and influence are those with the most capital. And since the
democratic system permits major corporations to back candidates, be they
presidential or congressional, there shouldn’t be any cause for astonishment –
and there isn’t any – in the Democrats’ failure to stop the war. And you’re the
ones who have the saying which goes, “Money talks.” And I tell you: after the
failure of your representatives in the Democratic Party to implement your
desire to stop the war, you can still carry anti-war placards and spread out in
the streets of major cities, then go back to your homes, that that will be of
no use and will lead to the prolonging of the war."
Wait a minute... "they're all the same"? He wants low taxes... and Malkin says he's a socialist... it's all becoming clear: OBL is a Libertarian! In league with RON PAUL! Run for the hills!
(1) "Osama bin Laden, who was badly enough stung by it to (mis)quote it in his 9/6 speech."
