Okay, we are in the most perilous of times in generations. John, you may be right. However, "baraka" is an ordinary Swahili word today, derived from Arabic. (Here's one source.) I just meant this as an example -- the specific history of Obama's name is not something I know about.

I find it so comical that conservatives are characterized as the old, stufft, mean spirited group but liberals are the ones categorically unable to understand humor. Palin is skewered on SNL and says she though it was funny. It was funny. Obama is satarized on the New Yorker cover and the magazine is condemned.
