MCCAIN CAMPAIGN BRAVELY STANDS UP FOR PEDOPHILES.

The McCain campaign is showing itself to be a true defender of the downtrodden. After courageously standing up for the right of al Qaeda in Pakistan not to be destroyed and giving impoverished lobbyists and agents of foreign governments lucrative jobs in his campaign, John McCain has come out in opposition to teaching children about how to avoid sexual predators.

Yesterday the McCain camp released an ad accusing Obama of wanting to teach "comprehensive sex education to kindergarteners. But of course, the bill Obama supported would actually teach kids how to avoid things like "inappropriate touching."

In addition to local schools informing kindergarteners that babies do not come from the stork, the state legislation Obama supported in Illinois, which contained an "opt out" provision for parents, also envisioned teaching kindergarteners about "inappropriate touching," according to Obama's presidential campaign. Despite Obama's support, the legislation was not enacted.

Does the McCain campaign not believe children should be taught to avoid "inappropriate touching" or sexual exploitation? If so, why?

"MCCAIN CAMPAIGN BRAVELY STANDS UP FOR PEDOPHILES."

More superlative liberal logic. Intellectual integrity runs high here at TAPPED.

McCain's campaign is ludicrous as usual, but what I'm more concerned about is Obama's listlessness. Why is it that McCain's campaign easily creates a new charge against Obama every day, but Obama nor Biden seem capable of coming up with a novel argument in a single week?

It doesn't have to be sleazy for the media to latch on to it; it just needs to be hard-hitting and new.

I believe in Obama, but he's a pretty weak general election campaigner so far.

This is worse then the "Willie Horton" ad

John McCain is wrong on the facts.

1 - For starters, the bill is not a "legislative accomplishment": it never came up for a vote.

2 - If it had, and if it had passed, it would not have been Sen. Obama's "legislative accomplishment": he wasn't among its sponsors.

3 - It was passed out of his committee, and I believe he supported it, but as far as I can tell, that's the extent of his involvement with it.

More to the point, the bill in question requires that sex ed courses use medically accurate information. That is: any sex ed courses that are currently being taught have to be accurate. It requires that they be age-appropriate, which I think rules out explicit discussions of sex in kindergarten. It starts with an explicit opt-out clause:

"(a) No pupil shall be required to take or participate in any class or course in comprehensive sex education if the pupil's parent or guardian submits written objection thereto, and refusal to take or participate in such course or program shall not be reason for suspension or expulsion of such pupil."

So why, you might ask, did kindergarten even come up in the bill? Well:

"Barack Obama supports sensible, community-driven education for children because, among other things, he believes it could help protect them from pedophiles. A child's knowledge of the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touching is crucial to keeping them safe from predators."

Helping kids protect themselves from sexual predators by teaching them the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touching. Horrors. And totally the same as teaching kindergarteners about sex.

I hope McCain is enjoying himself. It would be a shame for him to give up what remains of his honor without getting anything at all in return.

Adam, the title of your post needs to be Obama's next ad! This is how he needs to hit back at McCain. Obama has been playing too "nice" lately. Hopefully, his approval of the 527's acting on his behalf will help turn things around . . . 'cause his current campaign is a bit too Kerryesque for me to rest easy.

And, rest assured, I AM doing my part. I've donated, I've volunteered, and I will continue to do both. I live in the safely blue New York, but I'll go to New Hampshire on Election Day to get out the vote, and I'll try to get over to Pennsylvania on some of the weekends between now and then, too. So, I'm not some concern-troll with chicken-little-itis. I'm just calling it as I see it, and I hope Obama and/or the 527's take a more aggressive tone in the coming weeks.

Obama won't get anywhere unless he takes exactly the approach you suggest. He should have said, immediately "Why does John McCain want to protect pedophiles? Is there something about John we don't know?" and then talked about why he, Obama, supported that bill.

Given that McCain started this line of attack, it's warranted, and until McCain starts taking fire like this, his campaign will continue to have the initiative.

There's no merit to losing honorably. Obama needs to become a street-fighter the last eight weeks.

The obaminator isn't gonna get off so lightly. Apparently he wants all the little chidren under HIS control, just peruse the last point below:

According to the Audacity of Deceit, Obama plans to enact, among others, the following "changes" to American life:

•An increase in taxes from the low rate of 28 percent under Ronald Reagan to an economy-stifling 60 percent;

•An expansion of federal medical insurance to 25 million illegal aliens and policies that would increase emergency room costs by $15.4 billion annually;

•Health care reforms that would let government determine which procedures and operations senior citizens are allowed to have;

•A shift on the Supreme Court that would reverse the partial-birth abortion ban, preserve Roe v. Wade for decades, and threaten Americans' Second Amendment gun rights;

•Sweeping environmental measures that would take 25 percent of farmland out of production, choke off America's domestic energy resources and send energy and food costs skyrocketing;

•A new "0 to 5" program that would transfer child-rearing responsibility and authority from parents to the federal government.
