Lightning Round: None Dare Call It Treason.

  • What is Barack Obama willing to negotiate away on health-care reform? Well, end-of-life counseling probably won't make it. The public option could be sacrificed. Democrats might need to rely on Olympia Snowe, who has all the leverage.
  • We're past the point where we can snicker at the crazy claims made by right-wing Republicans. If James Inhofe truly believes that Barack Obama is "disarming the military" and "determined to turn foreign terrorists loose on U.S. soil" and Rep. Paul Broun thinks Obama "has the three things that are necessary to establish an authoritarian government," then these are very serious charges. Shouldn't they be working towards impeachment? If fellow-traveling tea baggers are charging Oympia Snowe with treason for "negotiating" health-care reform, doesn't that mean everyone involved with the effort is guilty of treason, including the president? It's time for these people to put their money where their mouth is. I want to see their evidence.
  • Does talk radio host Don Imus know anything about business and investing? Who knows! But that isn't stopping the Fox Business Network from hiring the controversial Imus, whose appeal is something of a mystery to me. In the cable pundit game, it doesn't matter if you know anything or have any insights whatsoever so long as you are edgy in some way.
  • We've all known for some time now that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has terrible poll numbers in Nevada. But with the state party's GOP field pretty much nonexistent, it wasn't worth dwelling over hypotheticals. Now, with yet another poll showing Reid trailing two potential Republican opponents, the incentive for these theoretical opponents to become real opponents is much greater.
  • Remainders: Curt Schilling praises Ann Coulter's intelligence; the cult of the CEO is still going strong; McArdle continues to drag The Atlantic's reputation through the ditch; your liberal media, not so liberal; and it's probably best to avoid places that give Glenn Beck the key to the city;

COMMENTS

Just an editing note: you only have "McArdle" instead of Megan McArdle, when every other person named/bolded has both first and last names.

In slight fairness to the fine folks of Mount Vernon, Wa, Beck's hometown, it's all the mayor's brilliant idea, and six of the seven town counsellors refused invitations to the event.
