NEW ANTI-HILLARY PAC PRESIDENT PREVIOUSLY ENDORSED EDWARDS, ACCORDING TO EDWARDS RELEASE
New anti-Hillary Clinton PAC president Glenn Hurowitz of DemocraticCourage.com has previously endorsed Clinton rival John Edwards for president, according to an October 14 press release from the Edwards campaign.
On the morning of Oct. 14, the Edwards campaign sent out a press release headlined "EDWARDS WINS ENDORSEMENT FROM FRIENDS OF THE EARTH ACTION." Following news of that endorsement, the release read:
Edwards has already earned the endorsement of several influential environmental leaders, including:National Environmentalists for Edwards Leaders

Hurowitz's name is not listed on a truncated version of the press release currently on the John Edwards for President web site, however a copy of the release posted on Oct. 15 on the Democratic Talk Radio Blog listing Hurowitz among the "National Environmentalists for Edwards Leaders" remains available online. I also have a copy of the original press release with Hurowitz's (misspelled) name on it in my e-mail inbox.
Earlier today, The Politico's Ben Smith reported that Hurowitz had previously donated money to Edwards.
"We think there are other Democratic presidential candidates who are both more progressive and have a better chance of beating the Republicans than she does," Hurowitz told Smith.
Clearly.

I'd imagine Hurowitz shares the thinking that a majority of progressives and other high-information Dems have about the Presidential field. Namely that:
- Edwards is the most preferable candidate in the race.
- If Edwards can't get the nomination, others, especially Obama, would be preferable to Senator Clinton.
- Senator Clinton as nominee would be disastrous to the progressive cause for a long time to come.
Assemble politically active Democrats for any kind of meeting, online or offline, state convention or Democratic club, and those are the opinions you'll find that predominate.

I don't know why Garance is so confused that an effort to stop Senator Clinton from the left would have its roots among Edwards supporters.
Seems like GFR is just being her normal clueless self about progressive politics.

Garance, so what?

Don't know, don't care.
But, after reading this I think Hurowitz is trying to match Dave Johnson for being the HuffPost's dumbest blogger. If you don't immediately understand why, see the comment from the always-enlightening and handsome TuffPosh. Sources tell me that a link to background information that TuffPosh put in his entry was removed either by a moderator or by Hurowitz.
In any case, any "environmentalist" who tries to downplay millions of pounds of garbage has got something else going on.

So somebody who isn't supporting Clinton is supporting somebody else. Um, okay.

I asked Garance to update her post, but she hasn't done that yet, so wanted to set the record straight:
Just to be clear, Democratic Courage hasn't endorsed any candidate. We're happy to accept support from backers of any candidate. I personally was proud to contribute to John Edwards's campaign.

Let the less informed Dems in the nation in on the knowledge that Senator Clinton is no friend to the left, Glenn.
You know they'll come at you. But the next three months are going to determine the direction of the Party for a decade or more to come.
Just tell the truth, and do it in style. That's all we need.

An embarrassingly ill-considered post from GFR on a current event? And it's vaguely tinged with gender politics? And it takes a poke at John Edwards?
Come on, I'm no rube. I might believe two of those from her, but all three?!?! At once?!?! This is clearly some sort of hoax.

The pertinent question here is:
So?

I strongly support Edwards.
I urge everyone to read my column "Edwards is FDR with a Southern Accent"
