COMPARING THE POST-DEBATE ADS.

They do a great job of explaining the candidate's roles in the debate, actually. McCain's is confusing, has the requisite "how extreme" formulation, probably takes Obama out of context -- I'm pretty sure he's never responded to accusations of being liberal by saying people are lying -- and at the end of the day doesn't really make sense. If it's not presidential to accuse people of lying, why did McCain do it in yesterday's advertisement?

The Obama campaign's contribution to our over-crowded airwaves, on the other hand, criticizes McCain's health care plan without distorting it in a simple enough way for almost anyone to understand. If you missed the debate last night -- where Obama scored a convincing win and further limited McCain's dwindling chances to win the election -- you've got all you need to know right here.

COMMENTS

You're right about them being out of context. Both Obama quotes have nothing to do with claims that he is "liberal." The first ("They're not telling the truth") comes from this interview with Keith Olbermann, where Obama was asked about a McCain/Palin ad that says "He fights pork barrel spending ... she stopped the 'Bridge to Nowhere.'" The second ("I hate to say that people are lying, but here's a situation where folks are lying") comes from this interview with David Brody of CBN, where he was asked about the National Right to Life Committee's accusations about his position on the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.
