EVIL IS A BLURRY BROWN FACE.

From a GOP mailer being sent out in Virginia:

Evil.jpg

The mailer includes images of Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il, the usual bad guys. It's unclear whether the image above is supposed to be of Obama, but I wouldn't be surprised given the Virginia McCain campaign's tendency towards race-baiting hyperbole. If it isn't Obama, then the takeaway is even worse: Anonymous people with brown skin and dark eyes are scary. Greg Sargent interviewed Virginia GOP spokesman Gerry Scimeca, who said this:

"It's about the fact that the world is evil," he said, referring to the multiple bad actors that populate the planet. "Choosing a president is about standing up to them."

How are you going to stand up to them if you pick a president who looks like them? Huh America? Tell me that.

Looks like Atta to me.

Funny, I read that image completely backwards. I did think were Obama's --- so I read them as eyes looking evil in the face unflinchingly.

I might have read the message as intended, had the eyes been staring into my own (making me a participant), but since they're looking off to the side, I'm just a bystander.

Brown skin + dark eyes = Evil. You can't craft a message any clearer than that. In "With US or against US" America, me, and people like me, say Jennifer Lopez, Bill Richardson and esp. Barack Obama, are "Evil"

This ad is evil, pure and simple. The cynical people who created it are evil. The hateful, rascist people to whom it appeals are evil, and by extension, the craven little pond-scum candidate it supports is evil.

Want to call me Evil? Look into my dark eyes and say it to my brown face. I dare you.

That's Usama bin Laden in the Photo.

Are we no longer allowed to discuss him?

What, you guys want old arch enemies like Hitler and Mussolini to rise from their graves just because they happen to be white?

I think Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke and Ted Kennedy (sorry you're sick, pal) and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are pretty evil by today's standards and they're also pretty much white. Let's recognize them as our main enemies!

Obama's eyebrows are bushy, but they don't hook around like that. He doesn't have those deep circles under the eyes, his nose isn't as broadly triangular coming off the bridge, and his lashes aren't as thick and clumpy. All of these things, however, apply to Osama bin Laden.

I checked this out myself, and came up with the same photo TPM uses to line it up.

And, honestly, if they're making a photo-list of America's foreign enemies, isn't bin Laden rather conspicuous if he's absent? Isn't he by far the obvious choice for a line about "looking evil in the eye"?

I hate to come down on the side of the guy calling Pelosi and Reid "evil" -- but I think you're seeing something that isn't there.

I don't think the implication is to say that all brown skin is evil, they are trying to imply that Muslim extremists are responsible for alot of death and destruction and since Obama is of Muslim descent he is evil too. I also think the guy calling Pelosi & Reid evil is not "seeing" clearly, they may have done some things that are disagreeable but evil? I think not.
