Limbaugh To Judge Miss America Contest.

From Ben Armbruster at Thinkprogress, it seems Rush Limbaugh has been chosen to be a judge for the Miss America Contest. Armbruster lists some of Limbaugh's more outrageous sexist remarks as reasons he shouldn't have been chosen, but it seems to me that when looking for the judge of a beauty context sexism may be more of a feature than a bug. Someone who laments the "chickification" of American culture probably enjoys a ritual that puts women -- how would the RNC put it -- "in their place."

That said, this is a pretty bad idea. Almost as bad as Rush Limbaugh owning the Rams.

COMMENTS

It sounds not only like a bad idea but an unbelievable idea.

The contest appears to be a creature of Middle America, which is not the same as Conservative America. There would be a lot of opposition. And I can't believe the organizers would court controversy like this. It's bad for business.

my eye started twitching again...

Any controversy is good for the beauty pageant business, I think. Nobody watches them anymore. So, if they drum up interest by selecting Limbaugh, they figure a few of his radio listeners will watch the pageant just to see if he says anything interesting. It's an obvious ploy for viewers.

Limbaugh's extensive viagra-fueled travel to the world's various teen-prostitution hotspots have no doubt helped develop his appreciation for the young female form.

Plus, his expertise in judging others is obvious.

Heckuva job!

Is he going to wear his Bada Bing! costume from CPAC?

That's not what I heard.

It's quite heartening how quickly Miss America has gone from being a Major Event to a generic nothing on CMT.

GOD knows, contest shows are a bigger industry than ever. Some nights all 4 networks are showing them at once.

They must really be asleep at the switch over at the pageant, not to have figured out how to cash in.

I just feel bad for any non-white contestants. Say what you will about beauty pageants in general, but those who have worked their butts off to get to this point should at least have fair shot at winning the thing, and there's no way Limbaugh believes anyone but a white woman is a representative of what Miss America should be.

Ooops. I see they've already dropped from CMT to TLC, network of the Half Ton Humans.

So they will have a category for "Fat, Sweaty Pigs"?

The thought of that fat bastards porcine eyes watching me would make me physically ill.

Filed under "Judging Without a Hint of Heterosexuality".

Only in this world could a disgusting, ugly, hateful old man like that sit around and judge accomplished, beautiful (if brainwashed) young women. UGH
