BOOING THE GAY GENERAL.
In a breathtaking moment for us queer folk, a question submitted by an openly gay retired brigadier general was aired by Anderson Cooper, who is rumored to be gay. The general not only challenged the "Don't ask, don't tell" military policy; he did so by turning the tables. Why, he wanted to know, did the candidates not trust the professionalism of American soldiers to work with gay men and lesbians?
As it turns out, the good general was in the audience, and when Cooper gave the elderly gentleman -- who served more than 40 years in the military -- the microphone, Brig. Gen. Keith Kerr (ret.) was booed by an audience of Republicans. There's your patriotism for you.

Yeah. Wonder how many newspapers will lead their coverage with "Republicans boo the Troops."
Yeah, that's how many I thought.
Did any of the candidates try to stop the boos?

Tomorrow, Limbaugh will inform that world that General Kerr is a phony general.
That will solve any problems for the base.

The general is a Hillary supporter, which CNN neglected to mention. At least 4 of the people asking the questions were supporters of a Democratic candidate. It would have been nice if CNN could have found - you know, some Republicans to ask the questions.

Yes, today's GOP -- supporting the troops only when they vote Republican.

I don't see what the fact that he may (or may not) be a Hillary supporter has to do with anything -- Hillary supporter, Tancredo supporter, whatever -- the question's the same.
This is just a standard wingnut tactic -- respond to a question they can't answer by attacking the questioner.

thank you for all those who point out the logical fallacy in pointing out that he supports Clinton. So what? it was a fair question, no matter who he supports. I really hope no one buys into that crap. Usually though, the debates are set up so they dont have to answer the "tough" questions, and although the question was a brave one to ask, none of the republicans really cared to answer it.

Maybe they couldn't find any Republicans - you know - brave enough to ask the question.

As we have seen, if you are closeted, ashamed, and forced to act out in dark, twisted ways (going to or being a prostitute, looking for sex with inappropriate partners such as minors) because you can't be your real self in public, Republicans will show you the love. if you are are out and proud, comfortable and happy with who you are, the Republican Party is not the place for you. If you are are out and proud, comfortable and happy with who you are, the Republican Party is not the place for you.
Keith Kerr - boo.
Matt Sanchez - yay.
