ROMNEY ON THE ATTACK.

Mitt Romney became the first Republican to air an attack ad "contrast ad" against one of his GOP rivals today with this new spot in Iowa, which goes after Huckabee on immigration:

Call it "contrast," "attack," or whatever you'd like, but it's a sure sign that the battle for the Republican nomination will be an ugly, knock-down, drag-out fight, and this is just a preview.

That youtube freeze frame is great, because it makes it look like Romney voted for the in-state tuition.

As I've written elsewhere, this is not a contrast ad. It's a compare ad.

The point of the ad isn't the immigration difference, but Romney's quiet assertion of equivalence to Huckabee on family, abortion, and "traditional" marriage.

Actually, the ad doesn't seem that bad, and it's really not well put together; I got confused by how they put Romney and Huckabee "side-by-side." And why did it spend the first couple seconds praising him as a "good family man"? I would have just started with something like, "Two candidates. But one is a left wing punk who wants to invite terrorists into our country to blow up major buildings and stuff" (Des Moines 1/2/06).

Yeah, this is a real crappy attack ad. Hopefully, Huckabee's camp can do better, or we're going to eat those Republican bastards alive during the election season. :)

AAAAAAAH! Brown people! Brown people with college educations! God help us all!!!

Jeez, guys. I'm voting for the one with the least magic underwear. (Oh wait, no I'm not.)
