SUBJECT, VERB, BHUTTO, 9/11

My lord, was Joe Biden ever so right about Rudy Giuliani's "subject, verb, 9/11" crutch. Here's Da Mayor on the Benazir Bhutto assassination:

"The assassination of Benazir Bhutto is a tragic event for Pakistan and for democracy in Pakistan. Her murderers must be brought to justice and Pakistan must continue the path back to democracy and the rule of law. Her death is a reminder that terrorism anywhere--whether in New York, London, Tel-Aviv or Rawalpindi--is an enemy of freedom. We must redouble our efforts to win the Terrorists' War on Us."

Translation: "Bhutto's assassination is hard to distinguish from September 11 which, as many of you recall, is the only reason anybody outside of New York City or the mob has ever heard of me and my amazing heroics that day." Yeesh.

Shame on Guiliani. Such blatant self-promotion in the face of tragedy. He mentions terrorism! Just because some lady was blown to bits (along with 20 others) by a suicide bomber. Terrorism! It's all about promoting his role in helping NYC get over 9-11. (He didn't actually mention 9-11 but he mentions New York, London and Tel Aviv - geddit?) The gall! And that B.S. that her "murderers must be brought to justice" - all about promoting Guiliani's record on crime in NYC and work as a prosecutor. Does the man just have NO conscience???

Yeeesh, indeed.

NPR had some "authoritay" on today announcing authoritatively that the Bhutto assassination was definitely the work of al Qaeda...

Though where such certainty, so soon, comes from, one is breathless to ascertain...

I cannot BELIEVE that it is 7 days until Iowa and this ostensibly politics-oriented blog is reduced to a meager trickle. I'm all for bona fide time off and holidays, but shouldn't more than a skeleton crew be on hand for the biggest week in politics in the decade?

Unless "Islamic extremists" are in control of the U.S. Air Force and can make buildings defy the laws of physics, 9/11 had to have been an inside job. Rudy Giuliani knows it as well as does anyone else who has made even a cursory attempt to look into the details of 9/11.

As for the Bhutto assassination attempt, who benefits? Musharraf. His main rival is out of the way and now he can have an even easier time rigging the "elections" if they are even to be held. But of course, asking the "who benefits?" question is taboo in the U.S. Instead we have to hear an endless procession of "news" about "Al Qaeda", the C.I.A. sock puppet group that will probably be soon be getting blamed for childhood obesity and global warming. Americans, find your walnut-sized brain, take the shrink wrap off it and actually USE the son of a bitch.

What the hell? Pakistan has been dealing with the problems of terrorism about as long as the country has existed. Making grandiose claims asserting that this is a sign that terrorism can be a problem there too is about as laughable in its obviousness as saying "racism is a problem to everyone, even black people."

Lev, have you actually done the math to prove that it's impossible or are you just repeating what some idiot on the internet told you?
